Just wondering about a homicide

There was a local area homicide this week. I was not involved in the case and do not know the investigating officers to my knowledge.

My information comes from media sources and I would love to get the actual medical reports.

Apparently two men were involved with the same lady. They crossed paths at her residence. One pulled a gun. The other grabbed the gun and a physical confrontation began. In the struggle for control of the handgun, it went off only one time.

One man was fatally wounded. The other is now in critical condition. Both were shot with the same bullet.

In all my years of investigation and reconstruction, I have never had a case where one bullet struck both combatants, much less kill one and leave the other in critical condition.

Anyone have an idea of how a bullet can hit both men and do such damage?

I suppose that if they were wrestling around and the gun fired it could pass through one subject and strike the other.Just a guess on my part.

One guy has the gun in his hands and somehow during the struggle the second guy grabs him from behind. The gun goes off shooting the guy holding the gun in the stomach or chest. The bullet passes through him and strikes the guy that was behind him?

I have confirmed it was a face to face scuffle while both on the floor.

All I can surmise is that a round went through a vital organ or artery of one, hit a bone and defected into the other in a vital area. At some point, I will get the medical records.

A few years ago, I had a case where a man shot another and the bullet passed through him and into his brother that was standing behind him. The shooter was charged with two counts of Attempted Homicide.

This is funny, I'm watching an episode of NCIS that I recorded on 11/24 and Abby just informed Gibbs that the bullet that killed an FBI agent wasn't fired by the guy that they're looking for because the DNA test showed that it passed through him first.

I'm watching Cops. It shouldn't be long before something similar happens. I'll let you know the outcome.

That's why I was watching Cops. Not much on even with a couple hundred cable channels.

My years of experience tells me a bullet would not deflect off a bone and ricochet back to the first subject, but I have been wrong before. Would love to see the autopsy report.
