Reported shots fired at Easte Towne Mall, I was there.

My wife and I just got home from the mall. While I didn't hear any shots, there was a stampede of shoppers going through every exit there.

My wife was sitting in B&N having tea, and I walked across the promenade to Subway to order a sandwich. Then there was screaming and wall of people.

Here's the tragedy. Maybeth, the best sandwich maker there, was half done with the one of the best works of art I had ever seen. I had to abandon this beautiful cuisine to shove my way through the throng to get to my wife.

She was at the back of the B&N crowd leaving through a side door, and I yelled to her. She was shaken.

We have lots of friends that work near Steinhafels, and none of the mall phones are being answered. As the cars dribbled out of the lots we saw lots of police cars. So far no radio or TV coverage.

Please drop me a line if you guys get news in your local markets. We know nothing. I'd also like some PTSD advice. I moved methodically and with a purpose. But what bothers me is that my heart-rate has not accelerated, and I'm dead calm. I'm afraid something is going to hit me later, and I do not know how to react.

TT, glad to hear you and your wife got out of there safe. Similar situation happened at our local Walmart last week. A 23yr old came in with a machete and 2 air guns. He didn't hurt anyone. Apparently he was on a suicide by Police mission. Police shot him dead. There are some messed up people out there.

Not really hearing much as the police do not appear to be releasing any information. Just saying 'everything is secure'.

Glad you are both safe, that's all you need to worry about.

I just got off the phone with an assistant manager at B&N. She was not there at the time, but her emergency automated phone message still goes off. Her report says that the "shots" came from the middle of the mall, near Santa's castle.

That's maybe fifty yards from where I was. All I heard was teenage girls screaming--no shots.

Now the calm is leaving and I'm getting a tad miffed. My wife got scared, and I wasn't right at her elbow.

Chuck, I'm baffled. I was in that hallway. I saw no wounded, no blood, no cops running. My wife and I saw the first cars arrive as we were exiting Sears to get to our cars.

As we walked we talked to other people leaving the mall. No one knew anything, heard anything or saw anything.

Yikes, Chuck, you know more in Illinois than I do/did standing inside the mall!

My wife just got an update on her smart phone. It's 5:39PM as I write this. the shots supposedly were fired at 2:55PM and the mall was "officially" locked down at 3:39PM, so they must have used all this time to inform everyone else on the planet what happened except those who were there...

Gang-bangers. Two shots fired, one guy hit in the leg, the police information officer says he is still being sought.

My wife seriously asked me if the banger was using a silencer, because no one in the area heard a shot, at all, much less two of them

.25 caliber maybe? Lots of bangers carry junk firearms.

You mean you never heard the ffffft as the gun was fired, the ping of the spent case hitting the ground or saw the sparks fly when the bullet struck the ground?
