It just runs in my family...

My brother just sent me this news release dated from 1917. If you look at the paragraph above the line by "Booster" you'll see a story about an assembly contest involving an Edward Stelzner--that's my Grandfather, my mom's dad.

Bit of a brawler, a wise-ass, loved Harleys and died at the age of 93, eating ice cream slathered in whiskey.

I enjoyed reading this article. I am also the director of the local H.O.G. chapter.
They were tough ole guys back then bikes and roads weren't as comfortable.

The 'nut' doesn't fall too far from the tree, Nellybelle.

I worked as a mechanic for the old Deckers Harley-Davidson in Madison. I am also an inactive full-patch member of the CC Riders MC. I rode actively from 1969 until 1974.

My Grandpa was a boxer for the HD team, while my fights were all *ahem* amateur status...

Heck, I wish I could afford even a used full dress Harley. It is the one thing I wanted in life I never got.

I never owned a dresser. I had to tune the police bikes when I worked for a dealership, and even they felt "rubbery."

A few years later they came out with a engine dampening system we called "the Rubber-Glide." I drove one, yikes, the handlebars felt loose, the engine danced, the seat-post was like a pogo-stick, even the floor boards had springs under them! The first few miles I thought I wasn't even connected to the thing!

But in those days the Super Glides had the same exact engine, just a Sportster front fork. I could ride the same longer distances, and I didn't have to push an elephant to do it.
