Nope. 45 gets the job done fine. But it's not the caliber it's the person and the proficiency of handling that weapon.

.45 will keep you alive.

.380 in the winter is no winner.

Hell yeah!!!

I just downloaded this into my Kindle. I'm expecting the recommendations are a Hi-Capacity 9mm as the primary, and once they are on you, it's the Kabar.

What kind of holster do you carry that in? IWB, OWB, ankle or pocket?

I am not out to get in gun fight. If my 1911 in .45acp will not stop some guy, then I am going home.

Same goes for extra ammo. Civilians do not get into extended gun fights, well maybe if they are gang members. Eight rounds will stop whatever I get into and I go in areas alone that most will not even drive through.

You don't carry an extra mag or two?

I have a sling on it, you never said it had to be a handgun, you asked if I knew I'd have to defend my life today would I be packing a different piece? If I had access to one I would have answered an M60, I tend to cheat when it comes to fights.

Sounds like the pros vote for 45. Some folks, it seems, choose a CCW solely based on convenience or comfort or looks and thus sometimes sacrificing effectiveness.
