Hunt or Hunker Down

OK, 3am, your security alarm goes off or you're awakened by the crash of a door being kicked in accompanied by your dog(s) going nuts. What are you going to do? Hunt the source or hunker in place.

I will call 911 and stay in place with my lite and gun...If they kick my locked bedroom door in, then it would be time to deposit some lead...

The cop shop is 2 minutes away so it shouldn't be too long for them to arrive....Hopefully....

Anything that they take is insurance covered and not worth my life or theirs...I hope that they take the tv since it's getting old..

I grab my gun and blinding flashlight and go looking because I have family in the house. But likely do the same even if I didn't.

Sending my wife to the safe place and I am going after them. I will not hide from no one in my own house.

Hunker down, call 911, and wait for the people that get paid to go hunting. Will bad guys be sorry if they get to me before the boys in blue get to them? You betcha!!

I made that plan ages ago, call 911 and hunker down, if they want me come get me. At night there are 2 loaded .45's, 4 spare magazines and a 9mm Sig in the room.

Wife is going to take cover on the side of the bed with her AR (fitted with light and laser), covering the BR door and calling 911 while I go clear the house on my way to check on her parents at the opposite end of the house; they're living with us so I have to go. If we lived alone and knew this was not a drill we would both hunker down and cover the door with the fire power of a small swat team. I pity the fool that comes through that door. Oscar is on his own.

I always told my wife fire a shot or two into the floor (which can always be fixed) and call the police if i'm at work. Most criminals are not going to want to advance toward gun shots. Big dogs and lights or good alarms are not what criminals like. Perimeter motion lights and alarms to deter them from even thinking of entering. Also your plan had better include how you can be identified by the police from the criminal. Never if at all possible run out of your house after someone. Don't put valuables on a kitchen counter, money, watches jewelry wallets etc. Many burglars hit the kitchen and run. And small appliances. Something to trade for their drugs. Hard core rapists or worse are another story. Never leave ANY valuables visible in your car in the drive and lock it. But, lights and alarms !

My scenario is different than others because it's just us/me that's in the condo...

If anyone else was in the house I wouldn't hesitate to protect them at any cost of life......Just wanted to be clear...
