Got it yesterday. Sent it back today. Had to hold the thumb safety down with my thumb to fire. Range Officer tried it. Same thing; he said to send it back. wasn't a day old. Nice looking gun, but nice don't count.

That's a known problem with the CCP, to the best of my knowledge you're now the fourth member of the forum that has that gun. Zoomy and I bought ours before Christmas and discovered the problem, when SWCA bought his I had him check it and sure enough he also had the problem. Contact Kimber's customer service and they'll take care of it for you. If you have an older model with bone grips check to see if the right hand thumb safety is hitting the grip. If it is tell the Kimber rep and include a note when you send the gun in asking them to adjust the safety and polish the grip so the safety doesn't hit it.

Wonder if, 'build date/serial#' relate to this issue...

Though my 2015 CCP is NIB the RHTS is resting on grip leaving a black mark.

I highly doubt it, it's not a big production number gun. I think they made x number and the problem is common to them all. Back in October when I spoke with CS about my safety and the small micro dent in my right hand grip from the safety they told me that they didn't have anymore bone grips but they would polish out the dent in the grip so it wouldn't crack. When I got the gun back it ran perfectly and the grip was polished to perfection. My grips were marked and photographed so I was sure I got back the original grips that came with the gun.
