It's his right to do it, but you have to pick your battles and a school isn't the place to do it ...IMO

Tuck the gun IWB for the 5 minutes it takes to drop off the child...

It sounds like there law says "open carry" is legal? This would not bother me. I bet he would get a big "thanks" if SHTF there though.

What do you think?

Case is concealed carry is not allowed but open carry with a CPL is. No other choice. Michigan law states a school as a no concealed carry zone. But in the law it states you can open carry with a concealed carry permit. The laws are kinda screwed up, there is no law against open carry in the State of Michigan. You can't carry a firearm openly into a gun free zone or conceal into a gun free zone. BUT if you happen to have a concealed carry license you CAN open carry in a gun free zone. Go figure that out. I'm hopeing they change the gun free zones to concealed carry only. Out of site out of mind.

I carry concealed. In Indiana where I live, the schools are gun free zones permit or not. I obey that law also. However most of the time I am carrying concealed you wont know I have a firearm, until right before you see the flash and the bang goes off. Then its too late for you.

First even if the guy is in the right he being a stroke, pull your shirt out and cover it for the couple of minutes he's in there.

"Margaret Wilson, whose 3 year old is in the music class, said the gun-toting dad has “instilled fear” and “crippled learning.”

Who taught the 3 year old to recognize and fear guns like that?

Problem is if he did he would then be breaking the law.

Lock the gun in the vehicle for the amount of time it takes to get his kid to class. What's the big deal with handling it that way?

I don't blame him I blame the states. Gun Free Zones are a joke anyways. Until concealed carry is allowed everywhere people will carry legally as they can. I will not leave my firearm in my rag top jeep, I open carry if I need to to be legal. Hell when I went to grade school we had a small arms range! Shot 22 in 6th grade class. Kids need to be educated not sheltered from firearms.
