Have you ever found your 1911...

...cocked but not locked in other words safety off! Today was the second time. The first time my daughter and grand daughter came to visit and I immediately went to my bedroom and took my UCC2 out of my satchel and placed it up high in my closet. That night when the coast was clear I took it down from the closet and the safety was off. Today my wife brought me my satchel to work because I was running late and forgot it this morning, duh! I just happened to check it when I got inside my office and the safety was off again. This really freaks me out! I know it doesn't happen by itself but this is twice that somehow without my knowledge that my safety is being disengaged. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

No, not with it just sitting on the nightstand or anything.
Yes, on my EDC it happened several times, CDP Ultra with extended Ambi safety. I am big and tend to bump into things and on several occasions upon getting home and putting pistol on nightstand safety would be off.
I changed to the Kimber "Short Ambi safety" and it has not happened since that change. About seven months ago.
Part was I think $19.00 and LGS installed for free while I waited.

This is why I don't keep 1911s in the house with a round in the chamber. Revolvers and DA/SA okay. But I like to see the hammer down!

I'm with Chuck...

My UC goes from my hip to in between my truck seats and back on my hip and it has never knocked itself off safety...

Maybe something in your "satchel" is knocking it on....

Things like that are why I never carry off body. If you must carry in your purse....I mean satchel, use a holster.

Even when I've pocket carried my P938 or P238 I've never had the safety slip off..... ever.
