Minimum Wage

Hamburgers... Low military pay was not mentioned in The State Of The Union speech.

Just increasing the minimum wage was.... Hamburgers or Minimum Wage.

For those fast food employees striking for $15 an hour let's do some math. At $15 an hour: Johnny Fry-Boy would make $31,200 annually.

An E1 (Private) in the military makes $18,378, an E5 (Sergeant) with 8 years of service only makes $35,067 annually.

So you're telling me, Tisha McBurgerflipper, that you deserve as much as those kids getting shot at, deploying for months in hostile environments, and putting their collective asses on the line every day protecting you?

Here's the deal, Baconator, you're working in a job designed for a kid in high school who is learning how to work and earning enough for gas and hanging out with their equally goofy high school pals. If you have chosen this as your life long profession, you have failed. If you don't want minimum wage, don't have minimum skills.

We are living in crazy times! Sometimes the work drives the able bodied away...regardless of the pay. For example, over the last 5 years I've continued to raise my field-hand pay to get the young guys (no gals have shown an interest yet) interested enough to toss square bales during my horse hay harvests. I'm at $15/hr CASH now, but it's still almost impossible to find reliable help. The other problem I've seen is a sign of the times, too...field hands that have no endurance! They may last 1 or 2 hours and then they are "shot"...sad commentary on a generation. I could go on, but you get the idea.

A couple of weeks ago the protesters were here at a local Mickey D's screaming to anyone that would listen to them...

I'm with Chuck when he said that the minimum jobs were for those in high school just looking for a bit of spending money...

Back when I was 16 my first real job was working at Mickey D's and I lasted a whole month before it was suggested that I move on by the manager....Seems that Marshall was eating more of the product than they were paying me....

I thought it was simple. If you wanted a job making $15.00 an hour, go to school and get an education for it. DONE!!! As it goes I won't be able to afford a hamburger handed to me by someone making $15.00 cause they will simply raise prices of the product to offset the $15.00. How stupid do these people think we are?

Just another form of welfare/wealth distribution. Progressives are sneaky bastards that'll con their way to their goals one way or another.

What about the folks that started at their current job making minimum wage years ago and have worked their tails off learning their jobs and getting raises and are now currently at $15. They are not going to be happy knowing that they are making the same as someone that flips burgers. To me this goes beyond just fast food. This will also put an additional strain onto our manufacturing jobs and business owners when their employees start to demand more money per hour than what a burger flipper is making. All any of this is going to do is eventually drive up our costs on every thing and instigate more division of the middle class america

Good point!
What really pisses me about all this is I used to work for a company building the fuselage and wing parts for the new Airbus A350 aircraft, a job where you had to have some computer skills and some serious "smarts", and we only paid them starting at $11.00 and the quality people only made $18.00. They had to to have some "REAL SERIOUS" skills and smarts. Way far more skills than a burger flipper.

Thanks guys. My blood pressure is back up!!!!!

KC thats why I don't fly !!! The military guys are the tip of the ice burg as they say. See how they are treated later on if they come home injured. But let a kid slip on the floor of a "horse-burger" stand and they are set for life. Oh and KC here in Cleveland the family of the kid that produced a gun (later turned out to be a toy but was an exact copy) when the police showed up and failed to drop it and was shot are being awarded $6 Million. Hows that for your blood pressure? And the police are still being worked over. Quick question for the group, what would you expect to happen if you pulled that handgun replica out of your belt as the police drove up? The country is gone mad.

I am sorry to say we are on a bullet train to socialism. The work ethic is gone we are shipping factories out of the US as fast as we can. Dont forget all these employers are supposed to provide Obama care also.
To me this election is pivotal we need to get back to basics. The candidates we have to choose from. I would say Trump is the one to do it. He is a business man a capitolist and he believe America should be #1 in the world. I personally feel we should be #1 no question or doubts about it. Oh by the way minimum wage does not need to be 15.00. I had to add that so it would not look like I was hijacking the thread.
