Chicago/Cook County Members

I know we have a number of members that live in Illinois and I just wanted to remind them that as of June 1, 2016 the new ammunition tax went into effect in Cook County. The new tax is 1 cent on each .22 round and 5 cents on each centerfire round sold. This is brought to you by the same idiots that passed the Cook county $25.00 gun tax back in April 1,2013.

I have to ask, how did they justify that? Do the proceeds go to education or something?

They claim that these funds will be used to offset the cost of medical care for Chicago's gunshot gang bangers.

If that's the case don't be surprised when that $.05 turns into $.25, there's no shortage of shootings in Chicago.

I sure hope they don't try something like this down here. I know most of the shooting victims etc. end up at our University Hospital, they filter the cost back to the honest tax payer who has insurance.

Maybe they need to spend it on shooting classes, then there won't be any medical bills☺

What's happening regarding this tax outside of Cook County?

It's a county tax so it doesn't exist outside of the county. What it's doing is hurting all the gun stores in the Chicagoland area because shooters will travel to boarding counties to buy guns and ammo.

So, the politicians of Illinois/Cook County want to ensure poor people are unable to buy ammo for self defense and the practice of these skills. They are ensuring that only the so called "white privilege" or wealthy folk can actually afford to exercise their 2nd Amendment right. Interesting how they have turned against the poor.

It sure hasn't impacted the South side. Do you folks think those folks maybe will start the hobby of reloading their own? Interesting.................
