Colt prices on Gb

I took a look a Colt prices on GB. Pythons are out of sight. I guess my chances of getting an Anaconda are gone.

Wow, why so crazy? There must be great alternatives for less dough? I dont know revolvers but seeing that grips are selling for $300, it must be collector demand?

Folks are afraid Colt is gone and there won't be any more available on the market. After the they get the bankruptcy figured out the prices should come back down.

True. prices on those guns have been rising steadily anyway. They aren't going to get cheaper.

There were 7 guns in the snake series, the Anaconda, Boa, Cobra, Diamondback, King Cobra, Python and Viper. I doubt the price of the snake guns has anything to do with Colt going out of business or not. Even if Colt started making them again the originals would still be the ones the collectors wanted and they would continue to command high prices.

A couple of years ago, I talked with a large private revolver seller, and he told me that S&W made the better large caliber revolvers compared to Colt. FWIW.

I was ogling his Anaconda that was in the display case, and mentioned my S&W Classic 29, which prompted him to make the comment.

I sold a Colt Python 3" barrel combat model about 5 months ago for $2500. I paid $500 back in 1988. I had fired it less than 50 rounds through it. It was a cool looking gun with nice wood grips. Classic lines. I know I could have asked more, but that wasn't the point. They guy who bought it was a retired NY Trooper living in Virginia. Cool guy and he really wanted the gun and I knew he would take good care of it. That mattered.

I thought the Python was a bit too hard to clean and I wanted a 1911 Kimber so out it went. People pay mad prices for them. They are cool, but that cool? I remember several gunsmiths telling me if I shoot the Python a lot the timing will go out. It was apparently not a high duty cycle gun from a long term reliability perspective.

Sad thing about Colt. They relied heavily on federal contracts and when they ended it left the company is a difficult position. I hope they make it through because Colt is an American icon.

I still have my Python, Electroless Nickel I think I paid around $400.00 for it, I don't remember the year. Colt Snake gun prices have been over the moon for a pretty long time, I really regret not buying a Anaconda in .44 magnum before prices got that high...OH well! I think Colt AR's are overpriced but I still think I want one?
Not the best pic but the Python and Bushmaster Carbon 15.

I hope Colt pulls out of the slump!

I here Colt is 500 million outa round. Don't know how true that is. If Pythons go to 10 grand I wouldn't sell mine. Now, the day after my funeral my wife would.
