Marlin 39 Lever Action Rifle

Had a Marlin kind of day today. I've been out of practice on my gun transactions for a while so got up this morning and scanned through the local gun listings. Found a nice Marlin 39A manufactured in 1967 and scooped it up. In great shape for a gun that is over 50 yrs old. Has some typical nicks in the stock and light spots on bluing in some areas, but that is just character IMO. These guns are hard to find in good condition at a reasonable price, and will appreciate in value as the years go by.

While waiting on the guy to meet me, I found another 39AS mfg in 1999 that was in primo condition and had a scope mounted. Drove over to look at it and it also followed me home

Double score! I have a 39 I bought back I guess sometime in the 80's don't remember exact year would have to look it up. I was visiting my cousin in Texas, bought it had it shipped back home to Tennessee. Accurate, well made .22 rifle.
Lets just say a lot different animals (some game some not) have not survived when I have access to this rifle.

I think you'll enjoy the new to you Marlins. The 39A is fine rifle, I love mine.
I will suggest that you hunt up Gunblue490 on Youtube and check out his in-depth tutorial on cleaning this rifle. I found it helpful.
Hope we'll see a range review soon :-)

Wow! What a great score! TWO sweet Marlin 22's on the same day. Time to buy a lottery ticket.

I'm a fan of lever action 22's myself, and have a long respect for the 39A even though I've never owned one. I do have a favored Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag, but my lever rimfires are two Winchester 9422' in 22LR, the other in 22WMR.

There's just something both pleasing and nostalgic about taking a lever action .22 for a walk. Enjoy those 39A's!
