Kimber holster by DeSantis

Ordered a Kimber holster for my incoming Ultra, and it's a DeSantis holster with 'Kimber' embossed on it lol. I've several DeSantis holsters, but this one was harder than most. It was double stitched, mostly and had the retaining strap for a cock and lock I like. My one complaint was the inside of the holster..
It was unlined - no big problem there - but the dressing they used inside the holster hardened the knap, making it very scratchy. Undressed would have been preferable.

Spent a few minutes with 320 sandpaper VERY lightly going over the inside (2 or 3 light strokes). Worked nicely. One spot has a bit of fine soft knap, but I used a bit of shoe polish/dressing to smooth it down, and refinish the inside. Tomorrow I'll take a cloth to rub the inside, then blow it out with a compressor to make sure there's no grit inside.

Once - IF! - the handgun arrives (I was really expecting it today) I'll use a light coat of vegetable oil inside, cover the gun in Saran Wrap, and smooth out the one spot of soft knap. Rather the soft knap, though, than the sharp spikes of knap.

Sure hope that Ultra CDP comes in tomorrow *sigh*

I use DeSantis holsters. Aren't imprinted with Kimber or anything. Good leather, solidly built, reasonable price,,,

Yes - I generally like DeSantis. This one was designed to be more form fitting, so the leather was pressed thinner in spots, and the the processing made the leather harder than other DeSantis holsters I have.

Fits tight against the side, so probably better for concealed carry

I like the Kimber holster, I even have a thumb break one in brown. I still use it sometimes, I like that it rides high and tight to the body BUT I don't like the thumb break for concealed carry cause I don't think it is needed. At least for me.

A thumb break is no no big deal; trained using a thumb break holster for 28 years. And it's easy enough to remove with a sharp razor if I don't like it down the road *grin*
