Mossberg 183T Bolt Action .410

I've had this shotgun sitting in my safe for well over 30 yrs. I had bought it for one of my ex's (can't remember if it was #1 or #2 ). Was thinking of giving it away to one of my nephews or nieces but figured they's probably not want it. So after I got out of the hospital last year, I started a restoration project. I Cold Blued the barrel (don't have a pic) and it came out a LOT better than I expected. I spent easily 4 - 6 hrs stripping & sanding the stock then used a Birchwood Casey kit to stain the stock. I'm on coat # 3 of the Tru Oil application and its really looking good so far. Can't wait to get it re-assembled.

Still won't be worth much when done, but it was a fun project nonetheless.

Nice lookin squirrel gun you've got there, brings to mind a Robert Earl Keen tune,
"she stepped into the alley,
with a single shot .410,
the road goes on forever,
and the party never ends"

...hey, did you wind up scarring anyone with the gator head out at the lake?

Hey CousinMark !
I know that song !!

Man, I missed out on a great opportunity this weekend. I had the propulsion part of the gator head (a RC jet boat) at Townhouse in Houston to replace the battery and forgot to bring it with me 🙈

Hey, now you've got an excuse to go to the lake again right :-)

...and ya, Robert Earl Keen is a great songwriter. I saw he and his band in a bar in Huntsville, AL like 20 years ago. That song was one of many that the crowd loved.

REK opened the last Rodeo Performance here this year, along with Lyle Lovett before George Strait took the stage. Man, that was one heck of a good concert.

Project Complete

Finally finished up on the restoration of the Mossberg. I'll be bringing it to the lakehouse where it will now sit in a handy spot for whatever need arises, like for bagging a nice gray squirrel or two for a sauce piquant

NICE!!!

...the offer still stands. Simply send any of the items that require testing and I'll be happy to verify their mechanical integrity :-)

Stock looks great! You don't see or I don't notice very many bolt action shotguns. Should make a fine lake gun.
