Stunk it up at the range today.

However, they all went BANG! Everytime! Ruger LCR .38 Special 10 rounds 3 yards, 10 rounds 5 yards and 10 rounds 7 yards.
Beretta 92FS with my white as snow 101st Airborne Screamin Eagle grips (they look yellow in the pic, NOT) 20 rounds at 7 yards, 15 rounds at 10 yards and 15 rounds at 15 yards.
I always save my Kimber for last because Kimbers are always my fave to shoot no matter what I have in the bag......no really. Stainless Raptor II , very hard to shoot this gun slow. It is without doubt my favorite gun to shoot. Recoil is very manageable. Front sight and target acquisition is quick. I didn't shoot it that we'll today but it was so much fun. If you had been there I would have let you shoot it.

50 rounds same count and yardage as the Beretta.

Yeah, I thought it was a good day. Any of those shots could have rung the guy's bell.

I shoot SW J-frames, and you should see my targets when I run full-house magnums through my 360PD.

No one is more concerned about always attaining their "personal best" than I am, but I would argue that the handguns and regimen you chose is defensive in nature.

If you superimposed your target over anyone's chest you'd find that the 8-ring is all heart and lungs.

Now, if you and I were competing with target pistols, using downloads and wadcutters to shoot for bragging rights, yeah, cloverleaves would be the goal.

Sometimes when I'm testing cartridges I've never fired before I consider no FTFs a "good day." Looking at your targets and the groups accomplished with defensive tools I'd submit you've found the tools you need.

I had a shooting instructor that gave me this illustration:

if you shoot 1 hole in a milk carton, it will leak out at a certain rate. If you continue to shoot the same hole it will not leak any faster.

However if you shoot multiple holes in the milk carton, the liquid will leak out at a faster rate.

He asked me, "Lesson, are you shooting for "bulls-eye" shooting or "defensive" shooting?"

If it is bulls-eye, one hole is great, if it is defensive, more holes = better defense.

So looks like to me you defended yourself well!

I have continued to use this illustration with many students as they get frustrated at not always hitting the "X"
