The Embarrassment Wasn't Mine

So I took the new Remington R1S to the range the other day for a function test. At 10 yards it was shooting consistently left leaving a nice group about 6 inches left of the bull's-eye.
I look at the top of the slide you can see that the front sight was obviously to the right of center in the rear sight was quite a bit left of center. Both of these sights have a set screw and since I didn't bring my range bag I had to clear the pistol and go out to the counter and ask if they had an Allen key that I could borrow for a few seconds. The young fella, may be 40 years old, asked me what for out of curiosity. I told him I needed to adjust my sites. And told him it was shooting way to the left.
Then began the barrage of questions; are you focusing on Front Site? What about your finger placement on the trigger? Are you sure you're not jerking the trigger? To which I answered Yep, yup and no I'm not.
Bless his little heart, he was just trying to help. But I explained to the kid that I started shooting 1911s about 50 years ago ( before he was even born ) and that I had a suitcase full of them at home. So I then had him take a look to see for himself. With no further questions he went and found me a couple of Allen keys.

Lesson learned: always bring your tool bag even for a quick trip to the range.

Right.

I have Midway pistol bags for my most used range guns. In the storage pockets are kept specific tools or related parts, such as the specific allen wrench for adjusting sights or a red dot. Same with my rifles cases. Otherwise, I won't have it when I need it and/or won't be able to find when I need it. There's just way too many little spare parts, tools, batteries, and endless stuff to keep track of if they aren't kept with the firearm.

You're a patient man, Cuca. I'm weak, and generally try not to talk to anyone.

It's funny; I have a new boss-in-training. He's trying the best he can. I don't call him often, but when I do, I often get suggestions similar to those of your gun counter guy.

Rob

P.S.
When I first read your post, I was going to make fun of you for your goofy-looking space man pistol. But I googled it, and discovered that an R1S is a great looking 1911. Learned something today. Have fun with the properly sighted gun.

At least the Solo owners didn't have to
