Companion .44 Magums

With all the recent chatter about rifle/handguns chambered in companion calibers, I thought a shot of my personal 'companion' .44's would be in order.

My Marlin 1894 Carbine in .44 Mag, along with my S&W M629 Classic (6.5"), and my M29 Classic Hunter (3"), also in .44 Mag.

Pictured with the guns are my hard-cast Keith 245gr SWC's, loaded under 20.0grs of 2400; deadly accurate, and field proven.

The Marlin is an older 1982 vintage "JM" marked carbine, and the Smith M29 Classic Hunter is a non-cataloged Lew Horton special run from back in the late 80's. I've got good leather for both revolvers, so they do indeed see time afield when in the high country here.

Anyone else willing to share their own "companions"?

I like 44 Magnum Snubbies here are my S&W 3" 629 Talo, and 2.75" M69
I also have several Redhawks. My Rifle is a Ruger 77/44 Love em all. Nothing like a Big Bang

Nice shooters Rick! I like that old 1894 :-)

...Here's my trusted backpack gun. A Ruger Super Blackhawk (5 1/2"). I mentioned how the recoil from some .44 magnum ammo took me by surprise the other day in another post. I had been shooting .44 special and that first round of the real stuff almost left me with a ding from the front sight in my forehead! I've ordered up a Hogue rubber monogrip for her. We'll give her a go with the new set up next week and see if I can't do better :-)

Don't have a .44 or .357mag lever gun yet. Have a Marlin 39A in .22lr from the 80's.

Big bore snubbie's, that's a different story.

Wow Arland! That is indeed a very impressive snubbie revolver collection. Nice to see a couple of Bisley's in the mix too.

And I thought my modest collection was a tad over the top.....NOT!

But you DO "need" a nice lever gun in a companion caliber.....just 'cus.

I have been thinking of getting the Kahr BFR chambered in .45/70 to go with my Marlin 1895 SBL.

TOO MUCH?

HA! Tip of the iceburg, that picture was taken about 3 years ago.

I have it covered in .22lr, Does that count?

A .44mag lever in stainless might make a good Christmas present for me, don't ya think?

Oh those are two identical Ruger Vaquero Birdshead's in .45acp. Which I no longer see on the Ruger website.

My only companions to hunting are an Ruger Alaskan 454 Casull or a S&W 629 3 44 Magnum. Sometimes I have carried a 586 L-Comp but I prefer a 4x.
