SO the feds have decided to stay with the devil they know instead of taking a good hard look inside and risk toppling their house-of-cards collection of policies and practices masquerading as law. Not surprising there. NOT dropping this case would've led to a showdown over whether the BATF has the legal authority, and technical acumen to properly define what a "firearm" ~is~ and risks undoing decades of shoddy policymaking and "make it up as we go along" practice such as we witnessed with the pistol brace fiasco and the bumpstock "ban". I might've rather seen this come to blows and force a reckoning with our antiquated gun laws and the NFA.
