Bored so I started.....

.....a new project. I have a Uberti 1866 Yellowboy 45LC coming that is a pretty lever action.

I am so pleased with my Uberti Cattleman SS 45LC, I decided the rifle needed an off spring of sort. Some if you might have remembered my 1911 Colt Govt gold plating I did...
Well here I go again.

I was going to brass plate certain parts of the pistol in a similar way you see the harden steel models. But brass unless you coat or wax it, tarnishes. But gold is more forgiving and easier to care for. It also adheres to more metal with less effort. It will plate directly with nickel, brass and copper and with some short etching, stainless steel too. After 3-4 hours of Flitzing and polishing the stainless to almost mirror shine, I did some plating.
I did the hammer, trigger guard, back strap, ejector rod, spring, cylinder rid and all screws.
What we end up with is a nice twist on stainless Cattleman. I also have a bunch of brand new authentic snap caps hand made by a Vet that are made to spec. They have copper bullets so I gold plated a set of 6 seen in last photo. Was fun to do. Sorry for the glared shots. Hard to get photos of the gold.

Cool. I never thought about gold plating gun parts before. Thought it might be too expensive or less durable than other metals. But it looks really nice.

I don't think Pimp is politically correct any longer, They prefer Sex for Hire Consultant. OR MFP Agents. LOL And no I will not spell that one out for you. Very nice guns though

Zoomy is correct. We now must say Afro-engineered or Obama-rigged.

Yikes, the last thing we need here is posting to descend into some form of "Ferguson vortex."

Then again, I'd love to see 'Tao debate Al Sharpton right into silence.

Back to the OP and gun. As to the plating, is that silver, nickel or (gasp) chrome? I know that chrome would make it durable and more resistant to moisture, but nickel has a 'warm' quality to it.

The gun is all original stainless. So all I had to do is use an etching solution so the gold would adhere to the parts I wanted done. So essentially, still all stainless except for parts that were electro-plated gold, listed above.

This is what I was trying to create. This Uberti has the brass backstrap, lower trigger plate, etc., but stainless models don't come that way.
I just took the liberty and added a few more parts to the mix....
