Ed Brown Evolution

Ed Brown Evolution 9mm, 4" Barrel.
Have you seen one? I have. Gun shop was crowded this morning, my guy was helping someone else told me to look around. I shouldn't have. I held and fondled one this morning. It's really downsized, slide is really slim, very visible red front sight, round butt, thin grips, recessed crowned barrel (4"), nice trigger, it felt GREAT in my hand. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about was it has an external extractor and the price tag. The rest of the pistol feels, looks so good I may have to overlook the negative comments I've heard over the years about external extractors, I think they can be an internet fueled feud.

Not sure I want to invest that much into a 9mm but it's a Cadillac.

Picture is not great but I didn't think to take a pic while it was out of the case.

You are correct if your thinking this gun shop is not your common bargain basement gun shop, they have big boy toys and big boy prices.

That is a Cadillac all right, pretty sweet. I honestly thought a Brown would be more than that.

Nothing wrong with external extractors, done right they are probably better. Sig and Smith and Wesson have no problems with them.

I think most of the objections come from 1) They have not always been done right, see Kimber and 2) They are not "traditional" for a 1911 purist.

Nice gun. Probably the only downside I see to it is a gun of that price point has a very limited market, so if you decide to move on later it won't be something you can sell overnight unless you take a bath on it.

It’s a great looking gun. The price seems to be the going rate. I would probably choose the black version myself. I always wind up with a stainless 1911 and I only have 1 in black. Either way, they are both beautiful 1911s. Looking forward to your range report after you make this purchase.

I can’t understand why they wouldn’t offer this gun in 45acp. I’m not against a 1911 in 9mm, I have just as many 9mm 1911s as I do 45s. I’m just saying I think this gun in 45 would be a great seller.

Very nice.

Ed Brown hold value well, that can help potential buyers justify the price tag.

Looks like there's a few versions of the Evo, including a light weight version for those more inclined to carry it. Is this for carry or adding to the collection?

So Arland.....we both know you will purchase the Ed Brown soon, so don't keep us in suspense with all this pondering! We want good pics and a range report once she's home with you.

That's a very sweet 1911 for sure. Recall that cash burning a hole in my pocket? Maybe a high-end 1911 is what I "need" too.

Phil, I'm not sure how much it weighed. It was slim and trimmed down but it was hefty, not like a boat anchor, well balanced but to heavy to CC IMO.

Rick, I don't know? It's really nice, I liked it but by the time they add Tennessee sales tax it would be over 2K. My Wilson CQB Compact 9mm cured my itch for a high end 9mm 1911.
IF it was closer to the $1,500 range I could consider a purchase to see if I'm OK with the external extractor.

I think you need to scratch your itch!!!
