Shotgun For Now and Later

Back story: My local pawn shop and my friend (FFL) is closing probably by end of year. Back in November she told me I'll make you a great price on any gun I want. I checked them out, she had one shotgun I liked but since I bought the new camera I decided to wait.

Fast forward: To Thanksgiving at wife's Dad's house, my grandsons father tells me Jordan loved his first deer hunt the week before and that he was wanting to go squirrel hunting. Some of my fondest memories of my father was going squirrel hunting with him. I decide number 1 grand needs a shotgun.

Today: Down to the pawn shop I go. I found the perfect one...well except for it was Muddy Girl Pink but I can change that. Mossberg 500 20ga. Came with a free black stock, all I need is a black forearm. Then when he gets a little taller, bigger, older I found an older Mossberg 500A 12ga. Check this out the Pink scattergun was $160 bucks and the 12ga was $120.

Dropped the 20 and the 12ga off at my Smith's yesterday. He is going to clean, inspect, function test both shotguns. The 12ga should be ready to go, I cycled several rounds thru it's action and it was a little sluggish at first, added a little BreakFree and just like that it was smooth as butter. I didn't have any 20ga shells to check it but the pump action seemed smooth and fine.

My guy is going to bead blast off all the Muddy Girl Pink, make them black and suitable for a growing young man. Gun shop does Cerakote I suspect the results will look great and be cheaper than buying aftermarket furniture.
Yes, I'll post after pics.

After Photo's

I picked up the shotguns Friday. The Pink oddity is dead and now ready for number 1 grandson. Amazing what $35 bucks and a knowledgeable Smith' can do.
Both shotguns passed inspection.

YEP! Very happy and thankful to have stumbled across him at a gun show here a few years ago. When we first met I didn't know he was a Smith, he was manning the booth of his boss's gun shop at the show. It was a low crowd day we talked for a long time, his booth was the only one that had multiple Kimber's, Colt's, Les Bear's, Dan Wesson's, Wilson Combat's. When we spoke I knew he knew his stuff from his answers. Now his boss/owner of the shop he works at is a dumbass and he and I had words, when I allowed him to "help" me when Travis was working downstairs, he was bashing Kimber's and saying some other stupid stuff. He knew I had not bought a gun from them but what he didn't know was I had just spent 2K in his store on silencers and gear. I told Travis he must have set him straight. Now when I go in he says: Hi Mr. Sharp, Travis will be right with you! lol

Ha, thanks. The pawn shop where I bought it is going out of business but the girl that works there has become a friend. The day I got it I took it down there to show it to her. I walked in with it and she said "you know I can't pawn that!" I said: I know just wanted to show it to you. She was holding it and said this is really nice! I LMAO, you don't recognize that shotgun? I said: that's the ugly Pink one I bought from you last week!! She couldn't believe it was the same shotgun.
