I think I better get a move on...

...and get that AR15 before Hillary gets in. I was interested in a AR10 but economically a 15 is where I think I need to start anyway. Any recommendations? Any options I must have chrome lined barrel? Piston? I don't know. Wanna keep it under a G.I know that.

I have a S&W M&P15. It's a very good rifle. They also have a Sport version that is a little less expensive. IIRC, the Sport doesn't have the breach cover or forward assist, but everything else is there. Piston won't buy you anything unless you are volume shooter and don't like to clean your rifle. Prices are right compared to the panic of a few years ago. I'd be sure to get the 5.56 not the .223. 5.56 rated rifles will shoot military grade ammo and .223. A .223 rifle will not shoot military grade 5.56 ammo.

There are many AR rifles to chose from, just like anything else there are bashers and complainers and lovers of every Brand.
Which brand is best? I have no clue. The one I bought has fired every time I have pulled the trigger and never had any kind of failure, now I have only fired about 300 rounds thru it but I don't have easy access to and outdoor range.

Just like you I decided three years ago I should buy a AR while I could. I did a lot of looking and was so confused about what to buy I gave up. Well our friends were up for Thanksgiving and my buddy and I saw a ad at Acadamy Sports, so we went to check them out. I came home with a Bushmaster Carbon15, which included a RedDot sight, a rebate for four 30 round Magpul magazines and a Bushmaster Cleaning Kit, out the door sales tax and everything for $721.00.
I still don't know if one is better than the other, if I get another AR15 I think it will be a Colt Carbine M4 in FDE.

I have several friends with the s&w mp pistols and AR rifles. No problems with them at all.

My advice would be go with a tried and true direct impingement rifle for the first one. It's reliable and has been in service for over 50 years. Chrome is nice, but not necessary. check out AR15Armory.com if you have any questions on the AR- it's a friendly site with knowledgeable guys.

I have a dpms, and it shoots fine. More accurate then I am.

Hillary aint going to be President. Looking more like she'll be opting out as she plea bargains to get out from a trial and possible prison time.
