I guess I was NICE :-)

...yup, Santa decided I wasn't as naughty as some might say it seems??? Hey, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth :-) In a corner near the tree there was a rectangular package with my name on it!!! My daughter hit the nail on the head when she guessed it was a gun :-) But this wasn't just any gun, in the package was a Winchester 94 Trapper chambered in .44 magnum!!! (the caliber I reload). Yes, a variation of John Moses Browning's original design (16" barrel) from way back when, and this one looked to be in unfired condition to boot.
I was able to get the new shooter out and check the sights today. First 5 rounds were to the center target at 7 yards, standing, not bad. Next the remainder of the 50 round box of .44 Special reloads (200gr Noslers over 7.7grs unique) at 15 yards, standing. A little adjustment to the sights and then 50 rounds .44 Special (same recipe) to the upper right target, a lil better. Another tap on the sight and lastly 50 .44 Magnum (200gr Noslers over 21grs 2400) to the lower right target, again at 15 yards, elbows on the bench though. The little Winchester got pretty hot but sure was fun to shoot :-)

Very nice! I love wood stocks. I've been searching for a vintage Winchester in 44mag.

Too cool Mark.... lucky you!

I’ve got the crappy Henry Big Boy in 44mag. All it’s good for is one shot kills of feral pigs....

Sweet! My next gun purchase will likely be a lever action in a pistol caliber.

Sarcasm or serious? I thought Henry's were good rifles?

Yea, wise ass comment... kind of my nature

The Henry is awesome except for keeping the brass clean. I wouldn’t flinch if it turned into a Winchester though....

I have used Brasso for years. Naval tradition has tons of brass to keep shiny, even in the holes. The Chief had the throttle watch make certain that the Power Panel cover, and the throttle wheels were mirror-like. The collar devices, also, needed a few minutes work of ye olde elbow. My Henry Big Boy .44mag has a good finish.

I use Flitz and it also does a nice job. It's not a big issue, I just like to whine.... or so my wife says.... It then get's wrapped in a treated Rifle sock, so its stays nice until I take it to the Ranch to shoot at porkers in the woods.
