Private sales across state lines are governed by the Feds. FFL transfer required.

One way to handle it would be for Chuck to purchase (pay) for the firearm online and have it sent directly to an FFL in his son's state for transfer to his son. Otherwise, if Chuck purchases and takes possession of the firearm, then it will have to be transferred again to his son via an FFL in his son's state.

What Phil said is exactly what I want to avoid. I think I'll just have to come up with another idea for his birthday present.

Just send him a money order or check and tell him to buy it himself.

Agree with the Kid.

Make the check for $2,000 to include for a can, optic and mount, trigger, sights and various add-ons. Just think of all the money to be saved shooting rimfire!

I do not like the conversion kits. 22 needs 1-16 twist to be accurate. I also do not want to lead up my 556 barrel and gas system.

I have a PSA complete 22 upper that is great. Also a Model1 sales 10” upper.

With conversions on 556 lowers, the ammo must be hot with standard military fire control parts to overcome the heavy hammer and spring.

With lighter match hammer and springs you can shoot the cheaper ammo and have a better trigger.

They need to be run wetter than the 556 bolt carrier. Chrome or nickel boron helps greatly.

Once Bloomberg gets elected it won't matter! National gun laws will be worse than Chicago! LOL!

Yes indeed... the Umarex/Colt/Walther (fill in your favorite brand labeling here) is an engineering marvel.

To fully appreciate the engineering genius, ya really got to watch the full four part video series on how to disassemble, but this first 10 minute installment will give ya an idea.

Enjoy
