Build #7 Semi Official kick-off

I guess this is the correct forum to post this thread. Since its other than a Kimber product.

I picked up an "Unusual" SS Valkyrie 9mm slide. (Unusual in the sense that I didn't know they offered Valkyrie in SS)
In addition to that I have recently ordered a JEM frame in SS and Bobtailed. I provided them with the slide dims. (see pic) in hopes they machine the frame to plus condition for hand working the slide/frame fit.
I acquired a slightly used .38 super barrel from a Smithy friend and as you can tell by the pics below. I received the goody deliveries thanks to USPS.

Since I got the slide first, along with the barrel. I proceeded to check hood and upper lug fits to each other. They are both DW products so the amount of handwork was minimal.
Currently I'm waiting for the frame to arrive. My guess is 4-5 weeks out.

I used some of my Brownell's lug cutting kit to align the barrel in lock-up position to measure upper lug engagement.

While waiting for the frame to get into town I worked the barrel/slide fit. It didn't take much since they were both lightly used and both DW products.
Once I was happy with that I went ahead and flush cut and reversed crowned it. The spring plug was a scratched full size one I found in the drawer. So I cut it to commander length, sanded the scratches and buffed it out.
This is where I'm at for now.

I'm using my DW Guardian frame for mockup purposes.

With it being over 100 degs yesterday and today. I found myself looking for indoor stuff to do between jumps in the pool. cool face is for the sunglasses required outdoors.

Becoming bored that I don't yet have a frame to work with I'm trying to occupy time with what I can work on.
After polishing up the parts that will eventually need that done. I moved on to making sure I could get the sights in place before finally glass bead blasting of the slide. I took a gamble and ordered sights that were the same dimensions of the ones on the Guardian. Since they are both .38 super Commanders, they will probably shoot close to the same.

I moved on to checking and doing the initial setting of the extractor tension. After some minor adjusting it was coming in at 30-32 ozs.
The tension adjust instructions say 25-28 is a good starting point.
Since I will eventually be fitting a 9mm barrel to this gun for duel caliber ability, I leave it there for now.

Edit**** I have no idea why the last 2 pics are sideways.... they look correct when I upload.... Sorry if you have to crink your next to view :P
