Detonics Combat Master?

Anyone else own one? Heard about them? Seen one? My cousin had it parkerized when I bought it from him back in the late 70's early 80's can't remember exactly. Three inch bull barrel, short grip, 6+1
for the time period state of the art, three dot sights (not night sights just white dots), mine does not have Detonics on the slide and I assume pretty early model built in Seattle Washington. I think I only paid 400 dollars for it or could have been a little less can't remember. It has spent a lot of time either concealed on my person and or in what ever style of transportation I was riding or driving. These were the days before CC. It is not pretty but it has served me well and has never not fired when I squeezed the trigger.

So seeing some of the other members refinish work but I am mostly going to blame this on my home boy Zoomy's Pro Carry project for his lovely wife.

I am going to Ceracote this pocket cannon, oh forgot it is steel, physically smaller than any of my Ultra's but heavier.
Having trouble deciding if I want to make it a solid color or maybe do a two-tone. Going to list some colors and combos I was thinking about.

A. solid silver/grey
B. Two-tone Black slide, dark silver frame
C. solid Flat Dark Earth
D. two-tone Flat Dark Earth slide, black frame

Those are floating around in my head (to be determined after seeing samples in person) KT family discuss, give me feedback.
I will wait for the evening adult beverages to kick in!

I have always wanted a Detonics, and it is on my short list to locate one this year.

Black slide, silver frame sounds nice. Or have it hard chromed with a gold slide.

Well, there are several on GunBroker if you want to spend the coin?

Kind of leaning toward black slide/silver frame.

I carried one in the mid-1980s. I still have the original Bianchi Yanqui slide for it. Great pistol, I cannot remember a stoppage.

It was the pistol I was going to convert to .451 Detonics Magnum. I still have the promotional literature.

Two comments?

Several readers and only two opinions, really but you all can do 10 pages on taking or not taking your Statin meds? Interesting.

I know it is not likely very many others own a Detonics.

I like this little gun a lot. It will be a challenge to find some custom grips for it, we may have to make some.

One of the members of my pistol club had one back in the mid-1980's. He carried it in his pocket. He liked it a lot. It looked like a nice gun, but I have never fired one, so I have nothing to contribute.

It is hard for me to pick colors without looking at samples but I will toss an Idea out there how about FDE Frame and Black slide and black safety, slide stop and trigger

I am checking/working on a source for some custom grips.

Richard, it was a long post but I felt some background info was needed. You don't have to have fired a Detonics to give an opinion on which Duracoat color you like do you? That was my main question? Color?

Funny, I have considered the FDE and Black combo. Not long ago I would have NEVER considered either one of those colors. I find myself liking the FDE and black more and more, especially on AR rifles. Thanks for your thoughts Tom. I am like you I have a hard time seeing the vision even while looking at samples.

The only two-tone gun I own is my CDP II. I am not a fan of two-tone guns. I'll take black, stainless or blued steel every time.
