FBI resturns to 9mm as duty weapon

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...896_story.html

The FBI is switching back to 9mm as it's primary agent firearm.

I've seen this before. Looks like they're favoring the Sig 320 pretty much.

Makes sense to me. If I didn't enjoy shooting my .45 so much, I'd carry a 9mm.

I think it's a standing rule, the FBI can't use the same caliber or gun for more then 2 years in a row.

I remember that horrible incident in Miami as shortly thereafter my agency went from S&W .38 revolvers to 9mm Sig Sauer P-226.Not realyy that big a difference in the round but the Sig carried 15+1 as opposed to the six shot revolver and it was easier to reload.I bet the Feds go with Glock 9mm as opposed to Sig or Baretta due to unit price.

I like my Glock .40s but they can be snappy. Glocks are light and .40 is not lame.

.40 in a all steel 1911 frame would be an interesting combination of punch, capacity, and shootability.

My son-in-law has been with Fed LEO for some time now, including SS. They use Sig .357. He hates the Sig .357. Much prefers the Glock .40.

An excerpt from the article that Jeff provided....

The vault is half safe and half armory, a place where the bureau stores approximately 7,000 firearms and also a place where the bureau’s 60,000 firearms — from pistols to sniper rifles — are maintained and repaired, according to Kenneth A. Fennema, the FBI’s lead gunsmith

That just may have just gave me "wood".....

A shooting buddy of mine has an RIA 1911 in 40. It is the best platform for shooting 40 in my opinion. I'd still rather shoot 45.

Stock up on the 9mm while you can...

13K agents X "how many bullets" per agent = A shortage of 9mm ??

Hoping they don't use FM for our sake.....
