First Shots

What, where, when and how did you shoot your time?

Mine was an M-14 in basic training at Fort Dix, NJ in 1969. Qualified-Expert

I was 11 and it was my fathers 22 revolver.

My parents were gone and Marshall and his best friend Gene thought it would be a good idea to shoot the metal milk case that sat in the corner by the front door..

To this day I still like Gene's idea better to take it out in the back yard...Should have listened. My parents were pissed and the closet had a hole in the door...

I was five I think. Maybe six. A father figure neighbor and WWII Navy pilot ace took me shooting west of town. I braced the Winchester 1906 on the hood of his 69 Firebird 400!

1969, M1 Garand, qualified Marksman
1970, M14, qualified Expert.

I've been wanting to buy one of each of these ever since, but I keep getting distracted by other shinny toys.

OMG, really? I was around 5 years old so it must have been in 1948 maybe 49. I know it was a bolt action .22 but I don't remember what make. It used to sit in a corner by the back door of my grandparents farm.
