Obama and his EO

Death by a thousand cuts.

I was watching the talking heads on TV tonight, until I couldn't stand it anymore. They're saying it won't affect the average guy, that it makes sense to do background checks, that it's working in California.

No. No. We know what California is like. We say it's not a free state. It's not. New York is not a free state. We all know it. We cannot accept it. There are anti gun people who think this is a good thing and they are misguided. There are people who profess to be Second Amendment supporters, or gun owners, and accept this crap and they are turncoats. This is terrible.

The sky is falling. This is not acceptable. I've bought and sold guns. Am I a dealer? I've put up ads on the internet and sold guns. Am I a dealer? I've put up a for sale sign at my club? Am I a dealer? I might be now. Who knows?

Anyone want to sell a gun to someone in town now? What if the buyer is an ATF agent who will then say you are a dealer? Maybe you are, maybe you aren't, but congratulations, you've found yourself in the federal criminal justice system and it's going to be expensive to get out. And it will take a long time. And goodbye to your guns while you are out on bail.

If you think this will not have a chilling effect on gun transfers, you're wrong.

This is nothing less than the start of the final gun grab attempt.

We must say no. No.

I'm a pretty reasonable guy, I think. We may not always agree with each other on a lot of things, but I hope we all agree on this. I do not see how we can justify one iota of this attack on the Second Amendment, and our rights as a free people and citizens.

I am reminded of Barry Goldwater, and his famous quote- "Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice."

Don't think for a second that this hasn't been on my mind all day...

I flip as a hobby not to make a living...I do what others don't bother doing and that's making sure the person that I sell to has been vetted by the FBI and has a permit and follow that with a bill of sale...

Those days are on hold until this shit gets straightened out....I'm too pretty for prison and my carry permit is very important to me, but supporting my way of living is more important than a hobby...

"Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good."

As coarse as this sounds (and I have seen my share of victims) the tragedies of a few will never trump the liberties of the many (to me). The number of lives saved and violent crime averted and prevented by armed citizens each year far outnumbers the relative few that are harmed.

With every passing day I despise that man more. An idiot playing a fools game. He knows what he is doing is contrary to the will of the people and the Constitution. What he is counting on is our desire for 'pain avoidance.' Unless we are entrapped by the system, no one will challenge this BS. He is counting on this. The next 11 months are going to seem like an eternity.

Just wait till the GOP controlled Congress and Senate take action. A big fat nothing they will do. We are a CU Next Tuesday hair from a dictatorship. Now is no time to be selling firearms. Time to buy more and ammo.

I am glad to be among this group who share the same thoughts. Last month a transferred one of my pistols over to my wife and one to my daughter. If it were today, this morning, I, like many of you would be paranoid and wondering if I broke some law. A simple transaction in my family and I am paranoid, as some of you. Someone once said (can't remember.) "Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean it can't happen."

California Gun Law Will Let Police Seize Legal Weapons | The Daily Caller

Under the law, the factors a judge can consider in granting the restraining order include not only threats of violence, but also prior felony arrests (even without a conviction), evidence of alcohol abuse, and even the simple act of recently purchasing a gun or ammunition.

Once granted, police can use the restraining order to confiscate all of a person’s guns and ammunition, and the person is also barred from buying or possessing guns and ammo for the duration of the order. A full court hearing must then be heard within three weeks. At that hearing, a judge will be able to extend the restraining order for an entire year.

I find it interesting how ammo is wrapped so tightly into this new law. You cannot even purchase ammo if you are under this order.

Why do you believe that it is unenforceable? In Illinois, you cannot buy ammo if you do not have a valid FOID card.

Perhaps I have missed your point . . . ?
