A Kimber that comes with a little guilt..

A friend called me last night and asked if I would be interested in buying his Kimber that he just bought a month ago...I was shocked that he would want to sell it after one range session and I asked him why he was selling it..

It's a 7 letter word and as soon as he told me I quickly understood because I have walked down that road before.....DIVORCE...

I know how much he loved this Kimber and as he said to me..."If I was going to sell this I wanted to give you the first shot because I know that you will take care of her"...

I'm so happy for me, but sad for him...Like I told him..."Kimber will be around for along time and when you get back on your feet you can buy another one down the road"...

Any time someone can get a Pro Carry Raptor for under $1K, ya have to grab it before someone else does...

Like he said to you, he's happy for you to own it if he can't. And I suspect you simplified the whole "liquidating" it process for him, which also eased his already elevated stress level. Nicely done!

Nice! Congrats. Divorce makes men do stupid stuff in order to become happy.

Nice acquisition. His loss is your gain. No guilt. The divorce wasn't your fault ... I assume.

That's a beautiful gun and a hell of a deal, it's a shame that your getting it at the expense of your friends marriage.

Nice score even under difficult times. Been down the "D" road, received the T-shirt.

This is a transaction of friendship, not one of finance. I had the same thing happen.

Several years ago my wife and I got behind over a miscalculation in the checkbook. She felt bad about it, and I figured that digging us out was more important than recrimination(s).

A good friend and client came over for polishing, and we talked about the bounced check. He told me he had 500 dollars and always wanted a ZT0302 (the Leroy Jethro Gibbs folder) which had become collectible with prices sometimes hitting 850 bucks.

I handed the knife over, and the first thing he did was to apologize.

He got me out of a bind, my wife was calmed, and a knife I never really liked left the house turning a profit. But it was the friendship I remember.

Jms-stlou, that's the important part, the metal was just the circumstance.

I had to sell my Dan Wesson Stainless bobtail commander and Valor when I got divorced. I promised myself I would replace them and I did. The ValorHD I bought brand new and the Bobtail was a little tougher to find. One day a guy walked in to the lgs with one for trade. He had NEVER shot it. Sold!
