Thought's on a new S&W M63 3" .22

Really wanting a .22 revolver, local gun store has one in stock. They are asking around $650 for it, seems close to online prices.
I only own older no lock Smith wheel guns right now, but then again don't want to spend a ton on a .22 either(older good condition gun). They also have a Ruger .22, always been a Smith guy but the Ruger is a little less. Only wanting a three to four inch barrel, so snubbies and 5" are out.
Anybody have one or thoughts on them, I need to fill this hole in my armory.

I don't have a M63 they look good, love the stainless, short barrel is good. Only problem I see is the stupid lock, I don't own a Smith with a lock not sure I could get used to it. Lock is not a problem as much as I just don't like the look.

I would probably add a little extra money for a Model 17 Pre-lock, but that is just me. Maybe for a range or fun plinking pistol I could overlook the lock.
Oh forgot you only wanted short barrel.

Yeah, I have a problem with the lock also. Not really a fan of transfer bar revolvers either. Pre-lock command such a high price nowadays, I don't know if I really want to pay that for a .22 that will be just a range toy and varmint disposal gun. I would like to keep it somewhat smaller, not set on a J frame but would like to keep the barrel at 3 to 4 inches. I do like the adjustable rear sight and fiber optic front. I should just quit thinking about and pull the trigger and buy it.

Being a Smith & Wesson revolver guy, I completely agree with the reasons why you're hesitating. But....it is a Smith & Wesson revolver....

The thing is if you shop around for a Model 17 K22 or pre lock, you could find one for a reasonable price, the value will only increase.
Lucky me I have two of them one is a pretty old one my Dad gave me and I have the new one he bought for himself.

True, right place at the right time is a must. Because they sell fast, my luck I'll buy the new one and a couple days letter run across a nice pre-lock.

Yep, that's the way it would go down for me.
Sweet K22 Tom, shot a lot of snakes and squirrels and soda cans with mine. Only a .22 but one of my favorites.
