Question Good 1911 Brands....

Being new to the 1911's, I was wondering what are some other "brands" of the 1911's that you guys consider great for purchase as well as the Kimber brand?

Smith, Ruger and Remington also build some pretty good 1911's for the money. The Ruger Lightweight Commander is a pretty good lightweight with a titanium feed ramp (instead of the aluminum frame ramp) that's very reliable and accurate for around $750 to $800

What about the Colt, Dan Wesson, and Rock Island brands? I've been searching out some info and I've been hearing some rumblings about those brands as well.

I like Kimbers and Sig's, of course I drool over Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Ed Brown and Les Baer's but that's another price bracket.

I started with Colt's still own some. Sigs, Rugers, Dan Wesson. Then you have at least for me most above my pay grade, Les Bear, Wilson Combat.

Besides the brands already mentioned, I have wanted to check out the Ithaca (Ohio made) 1911. If it matches the shotguns coming out of that shop (I own 3), I suspect it is a good pistol. Does anybody here have any experience with the Ithaca? The Ithaca 1911
