The cousin, a Sig P238 Spartan 380, showed up unexpectedly and is going to stay with us; I am pleased to report.
I was at my LGS and fresh with a pocket full of money which is about as dangerous to the wallet as a just paid sailor on shore leave. Like the sailor I blew my money... on the cousin to my Kimber Micro.
I always admired the P238s for all the reasons I like the Kimber Micro, but just didn't see any of the many models that moved me enough to buy one. That changed when I read about the Spartan model a few months ago and especially when I noticed one in the display case last week. Yep, I grabbed it. The retail is $833. I got this one for $615.
The main differences from the Micro is the all SS construction, that is, the frame is SS which adds about 5 ounces to the weight. On the Micro it is an alum alloy. If you hold the two guns in each hand, the 5 ounces is really noticeable. The sights are Siglight brand night sights. Then there is the 7 rounds mag. As you may know the mags on the Micro Colt Mustang and the Sig P238 are interchangeable with the Kimber Micro. So I now have six 7-round and two 6-round mags to share between the cousins. That should be enough for now.
Note the one pic with the 7 round Colt mag that has an enlarged pinky grip. Cool!
The finished is a rubber oil bronze PVD. On the slide is the Greek wording "Molon Labe" which means "come take them" the obvious macho Greek challenge to the Persian Army a few centuries ago. I could do without the macho engraving, but I am ok with the theme.
I'll report back after a trip to the range with the two cousins. I am really curious how they will compare.
