I shot the Shield...

...but I did not shoot the deputy and didn't shoot it very well. The Shield 40 is a snappy little poly that has a long trigger pull that is mainly travel with a little hump at the end not a difficult trigger just takes getting used to it. The reset is decent. It comes with a flush fit six round magazine and an extended seven round magazine. With the extended magazine recoil is easily managed. It is a fun gun to shoot and so far very reliable. Total round count on my Shield is 256 with 56 of those today. 50 rounds of American Eagle 180 grn fmj and 6 assorted jhp's l found loose in a drawer. I have never had a malfunction with this little warrior. The last time I shot it was May 13, 2015. It was time.
Standing unsupported 9yrds. It was muddy.

Shields are fine guns, I've got the 9mm. Buddy has the .40, the recoil in his .40 didn't seem any worse then that of my 9.

I have one in 9mm and never a problem. The trigger, recoil spring and slide lock take some breaking in (at least mine did), but all smoothed out nicely over time. An easy gun to conceal too.

I have the Shield in 9 and I think it's a great gun. Mine has been 100% reliable. I added a set of Truglo TFX night sights and I'm contemplating installing an Apex trigger kit. For under $400 it's a great buy.

One of my shooting buddies carries a Shield 9mm and I've shot it a couple of times. It's a decent gun but I just hate that trigger.

Wish I could say the same about the Shield in 40 that I had...it was an early production gun with a horrible trigger and kick. Sold it and replaced it with a G27...no more issues.

Happy you are enjoying yours glokrok.

I carried the Shield 9mm for a couple of years and it was flawless especially after putting an Apex trigger on it...

I had the Shield 40 cal for all of 2 range sessions and "snappy" would be an understatement..Sold it and moved on..

Even the "good" ones are kind of nasty and there seems to be lot's of variation in trigger quality from gun to gun. Mine was never gritty like some report but it was spongy, which mostly worked it's way out after lots of firing. I'd much prefer the trigger kit but I plan on carrying it so thought keeping it stock would be the better option.

...trigger kit?

Lineman73 had come up for a visit a while ago and brought a S and W, not positive, I think it was a Shield? He had done a trigger job on it, it was at about 2#, a kit of some sort. It was really nice to shoot, maybe he'll see this and comment on what he upgraded to?
