9 or 40 🤔

A friend of mine is going to purchase his first handgun very soon. It will serve multiple duties as home defense, concealed carry and target. He's chosen the model and manufacturer but it comes in 9 mm or 40 S&W. Now he needs to decide which caliber. What do you think for a carry gun; 9 or 40 (no other options) and why?

9mm. Less expensive, and easier to shoot. If I'm going to shoot something bigger it's going to be 45acp.

No question that it should be a 9mm. The nine will do just about anything a forty will do but proper ammunition with less recoil, cheaper, more accurate.

I'll chime in with everyone else and go with the 9mm.Ammo is cheaper, more readily available, and easier to shoot.

C'mon guys, there's still a couple more good reasons I'm thinking of. Gold star to who ever gets them.

I have several 45's and several 9 mm. Since you said only two to choose from I say 40. May cost more and expensive for target practice, but I say bigger bullet equal bigger hole both in target and body. I carry for EDC and many times carry my 9mm Solo. However I also carry my SCUP quite a bit. Too many 9's penetrating completely through assailant. I believe in taking out the bad guy as quickly and completely as possible. If you knew you were going to be in a gun fight...I think most of us would prefer the 45. Why more knock down power. Good luck.
