Trigger job?

Back in January I bought a slightly used M and P9C. Reading reviews on the same, I've heard that the triggers on those really suck. Mine breaks like glass and has a very audible reset. So I'm wondering if perhaps the previous owner put an Apex trigger into this pistol. I really see no point to improving the existing trigger but I was curious to know if there is anyway to tell if it does indeed have an Apex trigger in it.

This guy does a pretty good job of comparing the parts: Installing APEX FSS Trigger With no Prior Gunsmithing Experience I would say if it breaks that nicely, it's probably had a trigger job. I've shot the heck out of mine and it's much better than when new but nothing near crisp.

Cool Could Be Apex Hard Sear

I looked at the trigger on your M&P9c, in the posted picture. That is NOT an Apex trigger. Apex triggers have the center safety blade like a Glock trigger. The standard Smith and Wesson M&P trigger is hinged.

As you have described the trigger pull on you M&P, I'm willing to bet that an Apex Fully Machined Sear (formerly referred to as an Apex Hard Sear) has been installed in it.

This item is part of the Apex Forward Set Trigger kit. I have a full size M&P40 and a M&P40 Shield. I have installed the fully machined sear in both. The sear is the part that creates the smooth, light, crisp pull. Both of my M&P's are a pleasure to shoot. I'm pretty sure this is what you have. Unless you have a great urge to fully disassemble you pistol, you won't be able to verify if it does or not. If it is as you describe it, just blaze away and enjoy it. You can tell everyone that it is an Apex sear that is to blame for the trigger pull!! Works for me!!!
