Do they allow conceal carry at these events? I'd hate to think they would not!

Jeff, after reading the link you posted it sounds like being allowed to carry is a critical requirement for booking the convention.

Because of a change in state law passed in 2011, NRA members who are licensed to carry won't have any problem bringing firearms into the Convention Center. Gahl says it was a change critical to landing the convention this year and, he hopes, in years to come.

I'm guessing that after the 2010 {North Carolina} 2011 {Pittsburgh} and 2012 {St Louis} conventions banned concealed carry, they needed to have that as a prerequisite before booking their conventions..

Houston allowed it last year and Indy is doing the same this year.
Could you imagine the media storm this would be if the NRA Convention was a gun free zone?? Ain't gonna happen
I just didn't know what state/local laws allowed at public events.

I didn't realize that banning conceal carry at their conventions had already happened in other cities before..
Never would have thunk it..

The NRA convention will never take place in Chicago because Illinois won't recognize any other states carry permits.

Some states/cities, that normally have reasonable gun laws, will not allow weapons in large public gatherings, such as conventions, sporting events, concerts, etc.

The Atlanta Braves will not allow weapons in the stadium. They recently even forbid off-duty police officers from carrying in the stadium, but after extensive public pressure they changed their policy back to off-duty LEO checking in at a particular gate. I'm not a baseball fan, certainly not a Braves fan, but there ain't no way in hell I'd go to that part of town without my weapon.
