Back after a two month ban

I'm Back baby!!!

But I'm going to tread lightly, I don't want to upset any folks with my wild comments.

To update everyone on my progress, over the spring thaw I did some extensive testing with my pro carry 2. Since the swartz safety system has been gutted, I replaced the firing pin and spring with wilson titanium. I did a series of drop tests on the garage floor with a primed case to see if it would go bang. 10 drops on the concrete and no ignition or dimpled primers. Finish is a little buggerd up but I don't care, this is a rough working tool.

And Finally after 20 years and thousands of rounds my les bauer custom jammed twice. :( f2f. I ordered a new recoil spring to replace the original.

I guess I figure, all 1911s will jam eventually, it's not a glock. It's old time, just like sewing machines and typewriters. They all hiccup.

Hope yall are doing well and enjoying the summer, keep on keeping on!

Any chance you made a video of the drop test? How did you ensure it hit at the right (or wrong) angle?

I'd very much like to see a repeatable drop test, to specification, where they first repeat multiple successful primer strikes with a conventional firing pin and spring, and then repeatedly fails to strike primer with lightweight pin and stiffer spring.

Testing for our own peace of mind is fine and sufficient, but I would like a more rigorous test as a basis discussions about drop safe status of certain designs.

I'm curious. What was it about the Kimber that wasn't working re: the Swartz safety?

I've owned, handled and fired a lot of different 1911's and those that had the Swartz function never gave me any trouble. Then again, I maintain my guns meticulously. For example, I never wait for a recoil spring to wear out. It's like changing batteries. If you wait until the old ones are dead, don't complain about the dark. :)

If I'm not mistaken Kimber and Springfield offer models without the Swartz safety. Or at least they once did. Others too. If you prefer not to have that feature, why buy the gun with that feature in the first place?

Lester Bauer jams on Chopin. Les Baer makes guns you dont have to drop test. :)

Kind of curious why are you deliberately dropping your gun on the floor. Never heard of anyone doing this. I’ve never dropped a gun period & if I did I would have my gunsmith check it out.

The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.

At the risk of pissing some people off I'm going to offer the following opinion.

Social media, which includes forums, tend to be dominated by clueless, perpetually self involved shit for brains who imagine it as their bully pulpit, even though nobody but their like minded sycophants are still participating. Social media was a terrible idea. People who dont actually know each other just aren’t meant to talk to one another that much.

Online, the stupidest among us do all the talking because in the physical world, others simply ignore them. It's an unregulated outlet for dolts desperate to be heard. The truth is that the chronically, socially inept a shouldn’t have that much to say. They shouldn’t expect to enjoy such a large audience, and they shouldn’t assume they have a right to comment or rejoinder for every thought or notion of others either.

And that's what I have to say about that.
