After installing a mag well on my Stainless Pro Carry II, I wanted a magazine with a base plate that would sit flush or extend slightly below the bottom of the mag well. I liked the flared, angular shape of the base plate on the Wilson Combat Elite Tactical Magazine (ETM) and the fact that it held eight rounds instead of the seven that my Kimber stock mag held.
I have had only one FTF in 2000 rounds with my Pro Carry II and there are at least four possible causes such as magazine performance, failure to hold the gun solidly as it cycled, a worn recoil spring and even inadequate lubrication. I could name more possible causes such as ammo performance. In other words, it is very difficult for me to say that the ETM mags perform better than the Kimber mags, but the quality look of the construction, the style of the follower and the extra round were enough for me to standardize on the WC ETM.
I have not, however, had a problem, a malfunction or a complaint about my Kimber mags and I can not tell any difference in smoothness in inserting, removing or shooting compared with the Wilson's.
