I am a new Kimber owner and after putting through 150 rounds in my Ultra CDP, I cleaned it as recommended by the owners manual. One question I have is this: when you take out the Guide Rod and Spring Assembly, do you take it apart and clean it as well? The instructions in the manual are confusing and it was hard for me to get the assembly apart and back together again. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois OneShot. If you're having a hard time breaking down your Ultra (it will get easier with experience) then definitely clean everything you can while you have it broken down.

First, welcome to the forum. If you go to Kimber Talk there is a thread on field stripping. There is a video there on how to strip an Ultra without tools. This will make cleaning yours much easier. Option number two is to just hose it down good with a spray cleaner such as Gun Scrubber and then lightly lube it before reassembly.

Thanks Chuck. I've been a Glock man for several years but I love my Kimber. Being new to Kimber and spending $1200 for a firearm, I'm a little cautious to not damaging anything when field dressing and cleaning.

Hey Ya'll!

Welcome to the forum from beautiful downtown Monroe, Georgia!!!
:cool::cool::cool:

As for the cleaning: Option #2 as Islander said X2. Hose it down with gun scrubber and then lightly lube and your ready to rock and roll. Disassembled or not the idea is to clean and lube it. That achieved; you're done!!! :D:D

I have a Pro model, which is a 4 inch barrel...so the spring is different than the Ultra, but I take my spring, guide rod and bushing apart to clean them. I take a dab of oil on my finger and rub my rod with it before I put it back.:D
