here in Ohio, it's called the Ohio License to Carry a Concealed Handgun. I just got home from getting mine renewed. What an easy process. Fill out the paperwork, they had already done the background check with the info I gave them when I made the appointment. Pay the $53, get finger printed and photographed. Took all of 10 minutes. I'm now legal for another 5 years.

Congratulation Steve, it's nice to know that some states actually make it easy to get a permit.

Ohio is pretty easy but it varies by county. My original took less then 24 hours. My county is very pro 2A and pro concealed carry.

Its a relatively easy process in Georgia but takes a month or so to get the actual license. Its called a Georgia Weapons License but referred to as a Carry Permit. You DO NOT need the license to purchase a gun. Only to Carry.

You have to go to Probate Court and fill out the application and pay your $30. They give you a form that you take to a local Police Department to get fingerprints (another $55).

I did it a few weeks ago and spent 2 or 3 hours between the two facilities. You can't make appointments. You just have to show up and hope the line isn't too long at Probate Court.

You get your license in the mail in 30 to 60 days and its good for 5 years.

Wow, Chuck. In Paulding county it's all done there at the Probate court, easy peasy. Renewal takes week to 10 days to arrive.

As you stated, don't need it to purchase, but it does eliminate waiting on background check at time of purchase. Also, it covers carrying other weapons beside a gun, such as a knife over 5". IMO, Georgia has done a great job with the process and the CWL law. I especially like that State law forbids lower government bodies from making more restrictive laws.

I live in Fulton County... Enough said!

And I agree. I think GA has a good fair process.

In Nevada it's called a CCW (concealed wheapons permit). First time permit you must take a class. 8 Hrs. and pass a test. Renewals the class is 4 hrs. You also need to qualify at the range with your instructor. Then head to the local sheriff's office with your paperwork, pay a fee of about $115.00 for your first permit, Renewals are $65.00. Have your picture taken and get fingerprinted. Go home and check your mail box daily for about the next 120 days. Nevada permits are good for 5 years also.

I agree with you. The procedure to get the firearms license depends on the country you live and sometimes on what kind of training you have got. I got my license within 24 hours. I'm a LTC-A holder and enjoying the ownership of 1 rifle and 3 handguns.
