Let me ask, is it possible you're not racking the gun the same way every time? I had a lady I taught to shoot have the same problem, I taught her to pull back on the slide while pushing forward with the frame, and she had no problem. But sometimes she would hold the frame steady and pull back on the slide, and it was much more difficult for her.Don’t know why but sometimes this thing is so hard to rack I mean it’s to where I can’t even rack it but Sometimes it isn’t. Has anyone experienced anything like this with any pistol?
Actually none…lol I haven’t even took it to the range yet. Just saw it in my LGS and had to have it.How many rounds does it have through it? I don’t have any experience with DW, but I’ll say my first Kimber Ultra II was like that at first. I mean it hurt to rack it, but after 50 - 100 rounds it became way easier to rack the slide and no trouble since. Also, after my first break in period I disassembled, cleaned, and lubed it wet again. You might be surprised how easy the combination of the two will make it.
Thank you I tried cocking it first and works way better. And thanks I love the look of it. My LGS knew I wanted one and when he got it he texted me a pic and I had to have it. He says he could kick himself for not keeping it himself. I want a DW 10mm Valor also.Try cocking it first.
It probably just has a stiff recoil spring.
You could swap the spring with a lighter one, which will help.
Penny you have great taste in guns.
The DW stainless commander classic 45 is my all-time favorite Dan Wesson.
That's just a drop dead beautiful work of art.
I missed one by a few minutes iny LGS and have been kicking myself ever since.
Possibly but I’m trying to make sure I’m gripping and everything the same way every time. Don’t have any issues with any other pistol I have tried to rack.Let me ask, is it possible you're not racking the gun the same way every time? I just have been sitting watching tv and racking it to try and melt things together. How many rounds does it have through it? You made a FINE impulse buy. May be a no brainer but lube that slide well while racking…Actually none…lol I haven’t even took it to the range yet. Just saw it in my LGS and had to have it.
I agree JC! My Vigil is a 45 CCO. The Guardian is a 9I have a Vigil Commander in 9mm. Great gun. View attachment 135585
I’m still kicking myself for not buying one in 45 when they were selling for $1000. I really believe the Vigil was the best 1911 you could find for $1000. I don’t think they make them anymore.I agree JC! My Vigil is a 45 CCO. The Guardian is a 9

I think you’re right! Website doesn’t list them now. Bought mine NIB a year ago and it was $1300! The Guardian I recently purchased was $1600! LGS had a used Valor V bob two tone 45 a while back , that I could have gotten for $1400 (new is $1900), but I thought about it too long and it walked out the door!!! Penny did well!I’m still kicking myself for not buying one in 45 when they were selling for $1000. I really believe the Vigil was the best 1911 you could find for $1000.
