How many rounds does it have through it? I don’t have any experience with DW, but I’ll say my first Kimber Ultra II was like that at first. I mean it hurt to rack it, but after 50 - 100 rounds it became way easier to rack the slide and no trouble since. Also, after my first break in period I disassembled, cleaned, and lubed it wet again. You might be surprised how easy the combination of the two will make it.
Actually none…lol I haven’t even took it to the range yet. Just saw it in my LGS and had to have it.

Try cocking it first.
It probably just has a stiff recoil spring.
You could swap the spring with a lighter one, which will help.

Penny you have great taste in guns.

The DW stainless commander classic 45 is my all-time favorite Dan Wesson.
That's just a drop dead beautiful work of art.
I missed one by a few minutes iny LGS and have been kicking myself ever since.
Thank you I tried cocking it first and works way better. And thanks I love the look of it. My LGS knew I wanted one and when he got it he texted me a pic and I had to have it. He says he could kick himself for not keeping it himself. I want a DW 10mm Valor also.

Let me ask, is it possible you're not racking the gun the same way every time? I had a lady I taught to shoot have the same problem, I taught her to pull back on the slide while pushing forward with the frame, and she had no problem. But sometimes she would hold the frame steady and pull back on the slide, and it was much more difficult for her.
Possibly but I’m trying to make sure I’m gripping and everything the same way every time. Don’t have any issues with any other pistol I have tried to rack.

I just have been sitting watching tv and racking it to try and melt things together.
