The EPA came in and closed a lead smelter plant called Doe Run that had been in business for 121 years.
It's about 20 miles from my house and was surrounded by 100-150 homes in Herculaneum Missouri.
About 20 years ago the company bought out most of the town since most who have lived there tested positive for lead poisoning.
That still didn't stop the EPA from putting more restrictions on the company and it was more expensive to update the plant to meet new rules and so it closed.
There was tons of rumors that the government wanted it closed because it made secondary lead which is used in the mfg of ammo.
Here's a link about the plant and the rumors that were flying around this area..

Tip of the iceberg. Hundreds of unknown, unaccountable, taxpayer funded outfits that make regulations without legislative oversight that ruin lives. How will we ever get control of this mess again? Most started with executive order but congress continues to fund them. There is really only one party anymore. They will not defund the other guys pet projects so that theirs won't be de funded when they get into office.

The states need to defund this stuff by not forwarding money to the Feds only to turn around and beg for it back through closed door corruption.

My state taxes should be higher than the fed so that the money and power and control stays with the states. The fed needs to be stripped back down to the bare enumerated powers granted them by the Constitution.

Answer is Convention of the States. Our Founders laid it out in Article 5 of the Constitution. A lot of states have started the process. Check out 'Liberty Amendments' by Mark Levin for more info. And push/support your states leaders who are working on this. This will also help to start undoing the unelected federal branches with too much power and control, like the EPA. The whole mess with the cattle rancher in Nevada isn't just about grazing rights and fees. The people stood up to the over reaching hand of the federal government. That could have gotten very ugly and violent. The Convention of the States is a peaceful way to start getting things headed back in a freedom and liberty loving way.

I live 30 minutes away from where the stand off took place. After BLM officials beat his unarmed son to a bloody pulp, many of my friends and neighbors grabbed their AR15's and AK47's and stood with the Bundy family. The BLM backed down because they knew the good people of Utah and Nevada have had enough. If you think it's over you're mistaken. The federal government is completely ignoring the rights of states. It is EXACTLY what Thomas Jefferson feared the most. The EPA knew exactly what it was doing when it over regulated the smelter. And I'm convinced it's just the tip of the iceberg. http://video.foxnews.com/v/3477210128001/exclusive-bundy-family-slams-fed-govt-for-dispute/
