decided to stop at the PD to ask about status of my permit, give the chiefs secretary my name and she says "oh yea, youre done. i just have to type up your fid card, can you wait about 10 mins?" sure! i say.. (waited 6 months whats another 10 mins??) off to the gun shop to pick er up. feels good to finally have my eclipse target ii nestled in its safe finally. pics to follow!

Congrats!! Sounds like a serious process in NJ to get a gun. Post pictures!

Dudes. This is so wrong!
I can walk into a gun store here in Ky and walk out in 15 minutes with the gun of my choice. I sign a paper saying I'm not a practicing serial killer, they make a phone call to make sure I'm not a convicted felon, and that's it. When I bought a gun for my son, it was a busy day...I was a little upset that it took 35 minutes!
What's all the gun grabber bs about having "enhanced" background checks? How much more enhanced can you get than a 6 month wait!
Well this was an education! Next gun grabber I verbally beat down will hear about a law abiding citizen having to wait 6 mos for a legal product!

It's the same in Georgia. No need for a weapons license. However, if you get a weapons license (carry permit) the LGS doesn't even have to make the phone call.OMG! Y'all are killing me here! Wtf is an fid card? Wtf is a weapons license? #*!?

I guess a license is not surprising...that's just a flipping tax. I have to buy a license to fish in Ky. But not to buy, own or shoot a gun.

I believe the fid card p010 is referring to is like our foid card - Firearm Owners Identification Card. It's a card issued by the state that shows it's legal for you to own a gun and ammunition. It normally takes a couple of weeks to get approved but because of the vast number of people applying for them it's taking up to 6 months to get one here in Illinois. Our cards are good for 10 years, we still have to go through a background for every firearm we buy and the state law required 3 day cooling off period before you can get the firearm. Btw, congrats on the Eclipse Target II. I forgot to say that after I heard "6 months"....apparently my ears don 't work when my blood boils.
