Hello from 50 miles west of Chicago.

I'm a Glock guy. I love striker-fired, polymer pistols with only automatic, sequential, internal safeties. So why am I here?

I've been shooting for 40 years and shoot all sorts of weapons. I was first taught to shoot by my police officer and former MP father, now a long retired police chief. As far as handguns go, I shoot many types and a day to the range not only included my Glocks and similar pistols, but also often included my S&W 29 .44 magnum or 40-year old Walther PP.

I became increasingly interested in 1911 models and lately have been renting various types at the range where I am a member and shoot weekly. They don't have high-end 1911s, but the Springfield TRP and Champion Operator I have been shooting at the range are sweet. And I do love .45 ACP.

So, with my CCW permit about to be issued (as IL becomes the 50th state), I have been thinking how I might carry a 1911 instead of an Austrian gun. Some of my CCW classmates had Kimber or Wilson Combat 1911s. I did my research and decided I wanted a Kimber Master Carry Pro. I was talking about this over dinner with my stepdad. Two days later when we met for breakfast he showed me a photo of one he had taken at our local Cabela's. Then he handed me a gift card and said there was plenty to take care of it. Best gift ever.

Now a shiny new Kimber joins the others in my safe and my range bag during regular trips. But, more importantly, it also goes into the Milt Sparks holster on my hip as soon as my permit arrives.

And that's my story.

Welcome. That's a great story. And such a generous gift. Congrats.

We all love our Kimbers, but there's plenty of us who also enjoy our Glocks. At the moment my G23 is my daily carry. I'm very confident in the G23 performance. Also, God forbid, if something happens and my weapon ends up in a evidence locker I'd prefer it was my $500 Glock, not my $1,000 Kimber. IJS. ;)

Again, welcome.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois TigerSpider. I'm about 15 miles west of Chicago, I do a lot of cruising in your area with my T-Bucket on warm summer nights.

My Gen4 23 is my other "carry" gun. I've got the Travis Haley SKIMMER trigger and TruGlo TFOs on it and love it too.

Thanks for all the welcomes.
Very cool. They have several triggers to choose from. The SKIMMER or the Vogel look like they may be decent triggers for a carry gun.

Welcome to the group and thanks for posting a picture.
I'm not a Glock fan but I still find it a sad situation that the Glock(s) will soon become safe queens! :)

FYI, I replaced the connector in my G23 yesterday, with a "minus" 4.5# Glock connector. The results were unimpressive, but for $25.00 you can't expect miracles. It was easy to replace, so if anyone wants to try it, go for it.

To be honest, I've been shooting my Kimber a lot lately and the difference between a Kimber and a Glock is night and day, so my trigger finger is probably just spoiled at this point.

Man oh man, do I enjoy shooting my CCCII. The Kimber bug has bitten into some sensitive tissue and I'm now infected.
