I'm getting ready to purchase my first Kimber, so I thought I'd join your site to learn what I could. I'll probably start with a Ultra Carry II with Green CT Laser grips (because I'm my eyes are getting bad & I can see sites w/o my cheaters). Is there another Ultra I should start with that is a better investment/bang for the buck?
I hear I need a special tool to dismantle & clean the Ultra's, where can I find these tools?

Thanks & any thoughts would be welcome.

Hey, welcome to you! Yes the tool comes with.
If I was buying a standard Ultra (I did) and had to do it over I would go with the Ultra Tle I believe it gives front and backstrap checkering and night sights,

Kimber America | Ultra TLE II

After rereading your post it may have been the Ultra TLE LG that you are looking at.

Welcome to the forum from northern Illinois VaEagle353. If you want an ultra size gun with a set of CT grips the easiest way to get it is to buy the Master Carry Ultra.

Welcome to the site from Tennessee! You will get a "tool" included with your pistol, however a company called NDZ Performance sell a plastic tool that goes on the guide rod that IMO makes breakdown a little better. NDZ has a website and find it on YouTube.
I have old eyes also. Picking your Kimber is a personal decision but I would suggest buying a model that comes with Night Sights and Laser Grips. I can see the "Green" laser better in all lighting conditions.
Picking a size could depend on if it will be CC gun only or range only or used for both. I love my Ultra CDPII it shoots good, conceals well, functions great, recoil does not bother me. My plan is to get at least one of each, Pro and Classic and maybe another Ultra. Good luck with your decision.

You're buying a Kimber so you're obviously highly intelligent and have impeccable taste. Welcome to the forum. I shoot a Stainless Pro Carry II, so I can't really give Ultra advice...but on all other subjects I'm pretty much an expert. Except of course on what women want. Nobody knows that.

Posting pics is required by law. Once you make your purchase.

Lots of folks like the shorter Kimbers. I gravitated toward a full size for mine. And I like stainless. I put a CT laser grip (red was the only color available at the time) on it. Night sights are next. I find that nice green glow very comforting on the night stand at night!!!!

Congratulations on your decision to buy a precision hand gun. It will be the first one you buy...not the only.
