Does anyone make an aftermarket guiderod/spring assembly for the Mako? This is a great little gun, but it suffers from the typical inconsistency that comes from pairing a polymer frame with a 2-piece polymer guide rod.
Glock owners have known this for years. When I buy a new Glock, the first thing I do is order a stainless steel guiderod. It is a drop-in part, and the difference is dramatic.

Maybe they don't have enough market penetration to have that level of aftermarket support.

Welcome to the forum.

My wife has a Mako with way over 1000 rounds through it without a single hiccup.
We shoot everything from Hornady CD, WWB FMJ & JHPs, to YTR soft loaded subsonics.
Never had any problems. It runs like a sewing machine.

If your Mako is inconsistent, send it back to the mothership.
Don't play gunsmith.
Part of the price you paid is for the excellent warranty. Don't void it.
Kimber will have it back to you in less than 2 weeks. Call them, be polite, explain the issue, ask for RMA.

And you are right.
It's a brand new gun of a new design, less than a year in the marketplace and there isn't a lot of aftermarket parts like there are for Glock, which has many decades of being sold.

Thanks, but it has been back once. This week I ran it side-by-side with my Glock 26, and the Glock beat the pants off the Kimber. The shot groups were much smaller and tighter. That said, the Mako is still good enough for self-defense.

What specific malfunctions are you still having?
Did Kimber address the issue?
Send it back.
Don't void your warranty.

The difference in groups are most likely the Indian, not the arrow.
You probably have more trigger time on the Glock.
I get tighter groups with anything over a Glock, but that's because I don't shoot them often, and that Glock grip angle is just weird.
Everything hits low when I speed up with a Glock.

Not yet but I expect Galloway Precision will make one in stainless steel available in 2023.
