For three years my Ultra Carry II performed flawlessly... other than several FTE's that only happen when I'm shooting Wolf or S&B 230FMJ at the range and when I saw that it was time to change the recoil springs (used wolf std tension).
But the last 3 trips to the range has given me cause to wonder if I should continue to carry my Kimber. 1st time after flawless range use of 150 rounds of the Wolf FMJ, I get home and field strip the gun and I find the guide rod is loose in the head plate. I tighten it clean it check it and move along. Next range trip.... same thing happened 100 rounds at the range, strip and clean, guide rod loose again! But the 3rd time (last Sunday) I was shooting and not quite 100 rounds in... a Range Officer grabs my shoulder and said firm but polite "Stop and make safe your firearm" I eject the magazine and pull the slide back to eject the chambered round and whoa.... that did not feel right! The range officer hands me my guide rod and said "that came off your gun and landed behind you... at my feet!" I am at first stunned.. then annoyed... and now .... not trusting my much loved, carried every day, UC2. Today I called Kimber CS and spoke to a guy... and he said "use some blue or red loctite" If it gives you any more problems .... call us back! So.... I'm asking all you UC2 users... This ever happen to you? Loctite cure it? What else did you do? Thanks.
