Just found this site and hope to participate when I've got something to offer.

I've been looking for a rifle for a while now and had narrowed it down to either the Savage 111 XP Trophy Hunter or the Beretta Tikka 3. Pretty much settled on the .30-06 but it wasn't set in stone.

My wife and I were in Florida on vacation last month and guess what?!
They actually let you handle a gun in Florida and curiously enough, they want to sell you the gun.
These guys actually know their merchandise and best of all they don't make you beg to look at a gun!

I decided the Savage didn't feel good in my hands but the Tikka felt pretty good, so I came home thinking it would be a Beretta.

Then a friend pulled his Kimber out of the safe...

After looking the Kimber's over on Guns America and Gun Broker, I decided once again, the Beretta was going to be the one. Based upon opinions and advice from more experienced and knowledgable shooters, it seemed like a good rifle to start with.

Happened to be looking on armslist and found an 84M in .308 for $750.
I also opted for his Bushnell Elite 3200 scope for another $75.

Turned out to be an old friend of the family, we were in Boy Scouts together.

I dropped a $400 deposit on it and hope to have it in early January.

Seems like a good price to me and an affordable one as well.
Doesn't really matter at this point...I own it now.

The gun is beautiful, Classic Select with a couple of minor nicks in the stock.

I am curious though, is this a fair price or did I pay too much?

I have other questions but I'll start a new thread in the Rifles forum.

Welcome to the forum from Northern Illinois Ibseeker, I'm sorry I can't help you with out with the price on the Kimber 84M but I'm sure someone here can. All my Kimbers are 1911's and my long guns are Remington 700's.

That's an excellent price for the gun and also for the scope. You did really well. the Kimber rifles are the best. Great workmanship and great beauty. Almost a custom rifle and a lot nicer than Remington and Savage and the other mass market rifles.

There really aren't that many Kimber rifles produced every year. You will be very happy with it. Congrats!

GMountain,
There's something about certain guns that jump out at you and the Kimber stood out from the first time I saw and held one.
I suspected it was a great price but I haven't figured out how to find out what a gun has sold for on the gun selling websites like Guns America or Gun Broker. It's probably like Ebay where if you "watch" the item you can see what the final selling price was.

Anyways, thanks for the welcome. I look forward to participating in the discussions.

On GB, click on advanced and look at completed sales.

Kimber rifles are great. I'd like to get another, maybe in .223.
